Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is still committed to restructuring of Nigeria.

While speaking, on Tuesday, at the on-going 26th Nigerian Economic Summit, NESG panel discussion in Abuja, El-Rufai described Northerners opposing restructuring as selfish and hypocrites.

The governor doubles as Chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC, Restructuring Committee, noted that there a lot of different positions or meanings of restructuring, noting that the view of Northern Elders Forum, NEF, is different from the average northerner.

He disagreed with the notion that the North is enjoying the current structure, saying that the North has the highest number of out-of-school children and the highest poverty rate in the country. He also condemned some people presenting restructuring in a derogatory way in a manner that portrayed all the northerners as backward people.

The governor noted that some interested members of his party are making frantic efforts to get the draft bill presented to the National Assembly for consideration before the end of the tenure of the present administration.

Recall that APC promised the electorate restructuring of the nation during its 2015 campaign but reneged.  On many occasions agitators for true restructuring of Nigeria have accused President Muhammadu Buhari of negative body language towards the course of restructuring.
