Fear gripped residents of Odo-Eri community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State on Wednesday night after suspected bandits attacked the area and abducted two persons.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on May 20, 2026, when heavily armed gunmen stormed the community, throwing residents into panic as many fled their homes for safety.
Sources within the community disclosed that the attackers kidnapped a Fulani man identified as Bube alongside one of his cattle rearers before escaping through nearby bush paths.
The attack has further heightened tension across communities in Yagba West, especially following recent security alerts warning of possible bandit movements within the axis.
Just two days earlier, reports from Egbe Mekun indicated that suspected armed bandits were sighted moving from the Babanla Forest in neighbouring Kwara State into parts of Yagba West through the Okoloke bush route.
The development had already sparked anxiety among residents of Ejiba, Odo-Eri, Egbe and surrounding communities, with locals advised to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious movements to security agencies.
Residents say the latest abduction has deepened fears over worsening insecurity in the area, as concerns continue to grow over the increasing movement of armed groups across forests and rural communities.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the attack, while efforts to rescue the abducted victims remained uncertain.
