The leader of a notorious bandit group has been shot dead alongside his mother during a rivalry showdown in Katsina State, it was gathered on Sunday, November 16.
A competent source close to government circle told Impact Nigeria News Online that the bandits leader, whose name was given as Isihu Faisal and his mother met their untimely death during a deadly confrontation with another bandit group on Friday night.
It was gathered that Faisal and his group had been notorious for attacking residents of communities such as Gundawa, Fanteka, Damawa, Tudu, Wawal-kaza, Masaurari, Tugen Ziri, Tugen Na Alma, Babban Duhu, and Dayi in Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the source, what caused the deadly war was that Faisal and his group killed residents in some of the communities and one of those killed was the brother of Kamilu Buzaro, leader of another bandits group.
In anger, Buzaro was said to have mobilised his own deadly group and headed for the hideout of Faisal in the forest where they engaged themselves in gun battle, leading to the killing of Faisal.
After killing the bandits leader, Buzaro and his group were said to have gone to the home of Faisal’s mother where they also shot her dead.
The men of the state police command were said to have arrived at the home later where they took the body of the woman and deposited her in a mortuary after she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
As of the time of this report, the source disclosed that Buzaro and his boys have returned to the forest and the police said they are doing everything possible to track and arrest him and his group members.
