Briefly introduce yourself
My name is Ugbor Rejoice Chidimma, an undergraduate Botany student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Unizik, Awka. I hail from Orsu-ihetekuwa town, in Orsu Local Government Area, Imo state. I am a skilled writer, published author and writing coach. I specialize in crafting compelling stories and managing social media for busy professionals, business owners and digital brands. My expertise as a ghostwriter lies in bringing ideas to life through words, with sparks of creativity and sprinkles of magic. As a social media manager, I help small businesses, brand owners and busy professionals amplify their brand’s voice, target their ideal audience and grow their brand’s social media visibility by creating compelling and relevant content for them. I am also in the business of raising writers and authors in Africa through my writing academy, Intentional Speakers and Writers Academy, ISWA, who will write their way to wealth and influence.
How did you position yourself to start earning from social media?
It didn’t look like it when I started writing on social media in 2017, but I made my first N10, 000 in 2020 writing a YouTube script. I lacked knowledge then, so I messed up the job. To earn from social media, I had to learn how to write professionally and become an expert at it, then I went on to build authority in my field, as a writer. On social media, I spoke about writing, my experiences as a writer, client’s satisfaction, and my students. I shared my learning experiences my certifications and celebrated milestones.

I coached lots of writers, and shared result-driven reviews about my craft and coaching on social media. In 2021, I got my first 6-figures writing gig from a client based abroad. He contacted me from Facebook. There are no hard fast rules to these things, just be so good at what you claim you do. Talk about it with authority. Be consistent and intentional about your brand identity and perception. These helped me position myself to earn from social media. I learnt to blow my trumpet and it brought me paying audience. “Nobody knows a silent expert” – Emeka Nobis.
If you’re asked the secrets to your success, what are they?
God is my secret ingredient. First, I make it a rule to stay consistent and committed, no matter what! The only thing that’s capable of preventing me from writing any day is only if I am confined to a sick bed, chained and unable to write. But, so long I can move my wrist and hands freely, I write everyday, no matter how busy I may be. Who knows, I may even write on my wedding day. Lol. The more you know, the more you’ll be amazed that you don’t know. You will never find me acting like I know it all. Even if a 5 year old knows the intricacies of writing than I do, I am willing to submit and learn. “The difference between where you are and where you want to be is the knowledge you don’t have” – Eno Sam. Knowledge is power and I always ensure I improve my knowledge bank. No matter how daring it is, I always do them without fear. The least I’ll get is a Yes or a No. So, I shoot my shots, send applications, invites and proposals, and I do things that contribute to my success as a writer and a social media manager every day.
I am Intentional about building profitable friendships, joining meaningful conversations about my industry and making extensive research. I also network with my peers and industry experts to improve my social capital. These are ways I get updated on the happenings around my industry everyday!
For one who’s just starting out on social media, what should the person do rightly?
Use your real name. Do away with the ‘Mhiz, Etz, etc.’, prefixes. Optimize your social media profiles. Use good pictures. Only share relevant and valuable content. Do not engage yourself in unhealthy social media bants. Be careful about what you do with your social media profiles – the internet never forget. Be consistent in doing the right thing. Understand why you are on social media and focus on it. Niche down if you can and work towards building authority on it. Don’t be a loner on social media, build networks and profitable relationships. Attend events hosted by known social media persons, share your lessons, pictures and experiences about that event on social media.
