The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says its operatives in the Benin Zonal Directorate have arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State.
The suspects were picked up in a sting operation carried out on Monday, September 29, 2025, at different locations across Benin City, following credible intelligence about their alleged involvement in computer-related crimes.
According to the anti-graft agency, the operation was conducted in line with lawful procedures, and several items were recovered from the suspects, including 11 vehicles and multiple mobile devices.
Preliminary investigations reportedly linked the suspects to various forms of internet fraud, ranging from identity theft to romance scams. The EFCC said further investigation is ongoing, adding that the suspects will be arraigned in court once the process is concluded.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to tackling cybercrime and urged young Nigerians to channel their talents into legitimate ventures.
