The Bauchi State Police Command says it has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area, rescuing two victims unharmed and arresting three suspects linked to the crime.

According to police spokesperson CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the incident occurred on September 28, 2025, when suspected kidnappers armed with AK-47 rifles invaded Maso Kano village in the Jada Pali district. The attackers abducted two men – 50-year-old Hambali Alh. Sa’adu and his brother, 35-year-old Jari Alh. Sa’adu.

A combined team of police operatives and local hunters swiftly responded to a distress call and engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle. The assailants abandoned their captives and fled, allowing security agents to rescue the victims without injury.

Further investigations led to the arrest of three suspects between September 29 and 30. They were identified as 28-year-old Adamu Ahmadu, 18-year-old Bello Alhaji Musa, and 29-year-old Adamu Alhaji Musa, all from Shalhori village near Kirfi LGA. Police say the suspects confessed to the crime and revealed they had conspired with three other accomplices still at large.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the swift response of the operational teams and ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe. He assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks operating in the area.

The Command also urged communities to remain vigilant and continue sharing timely information with security agencies to help prevent further attacks.
