The family members of a female university student are currently in panic as they suspected abduction after the student left home to attend lectures but disappeared along the road to the institution in Katsina State.
The female student, Aisha Bishir Lawal Shargalle, a 200-Level undergraduate of the Al-Qalam University, Katsina, left her parent’s home in Katsina city around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday to attend lectures in the institution.
However, when she was expected to return home in the evening, her whereabouts became unknown and all efforts to contact her through her phone proved abortive as it was unreachable.
A source close to the family disclosed on Wednesday evening that the family contacted some of her classmates in the university and they were told that she didn’t show up for lectures on Tuesday, making the family to become more worried and think that she might have been abducted.
The source added that her parents and some relatives have reported her disappearance at the police station and the police said they had begun investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.
Her disappearance has also sparked worries and concerns among her friends and classmates, who are appealing to the public for any information that could help locate her.
Katsina State has been under the grips of bandits and terrorists in recent times who unleash mayhem on residents of various communities in the state, killing people and also abducting others.
In many instances, the abductors demand for huge amounts as ransom from family members of the victims. Sometimes, after payment of the ransom, some of the captives are eventually killed.
While the bandits and terrorists are having a field day carrying out killings and destructions, both the state government as well as security agencies seem to be handicapped in tackling the twin menace.
