The Federal Government has launched the Revenue Optimization and Assurance Project (REV-OP), a major reform aimed at transforming Nigeria’s public financial management and boosting long-term economic stability.

Unveiled at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja, the initiative is designed to block revenue leakages, promote transparency, and drive economic growth through digital innovation.

Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, described REV-OP as “a clean break” from past fiscal practices. “This is not a rebrand, but the start of a more secure and accountable financial future for Nigeria,” he said.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammed Manga, REV-OP is built on three pillars: transparency, efficiency, and digital transformation. The system will enable real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making across revenue-generating agencies.

Key government bodies including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Office of the Accountant General were represented at the launch, alongside private tech partners—signaling strong multi-sector collaboration.

The project is backed by a two-tier governance structure comprising a high-level Steering Committee and a Project Management Team to oversee daily execution. Daily coordination meetings are also in place to maintain implementation momentum.

REV-OP aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda, focusing on revenue generation, plugging systemic leakages, and creating a stable fiscal environment to attract investment.

Meanwhile, the government also recently launched the ASIF Investment Platform to spur cross-border investments in infrastructure, renewables, manufacturing, and healthcare. The platform aims to de-risk large-scale projects, blend public-private financing, and drive investor-led growth across Africa.

Together, REV-OP and ASIF signal a shift in Nigeria’s economic strategy toward accountability, innovation, and long-term resilience.
