A young man who used a knife to stab his grandfather to death at a community in Bauchi State has been arrested by men of the state police command.
The grandson, Bashar Aliyu, aged 26 years old, was said to have used the knife to kill the grandfather, Ibrahim Maisaje, aged 70 years, inside the victim’s room in Sabon Kariya Village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state, over an undisclosed reason.
It was gathered that on May 17, a resident of the village reported the tragic incident at the Ganjuwa Divisional Headquarters and on receiving the report, the police operatives raced to the scene where the old man’s body was found in the pool of his blood.
The body was evacuated and taken to the General Hospital mortuary, Kafin Madaki, after a medical doctor on duty at the hospital certified him dead.
The grandson was also arrested and he is currently giving useful information to the operatives.
According to the command in a statement on Friday, May 22, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for what the command described as ‘a thorough investigation.’
