Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Tuesday afternoon invaded two communities in Zamfara State, killing 12 persons, injuring many others while an unspecified number of residents were abducted.
While nine persons were killed in the first village, three siblings were killed in the second village, just as the marauders set houses ablaze in the two villages.
It was gathered that the gunmen first invaded the Rumbuki village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state, killing nine persons and injuring other residents.
They thereafter stormed Nikai Village in the same local government area, killing three children of a popular resident of the village before abducting other residents and setting houses ablaze.
A source close to the local government area told Impact Nigeria News Online on Tuesday night that the attacks sent shivers to many communities in the local government as the source added that though distress calls were made to security agencies, they allegedly did not respond.
In a related development, on Monday night, bandits attacked Gorau town in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing residents, injuring many and abducting others.
Reports said the town where the incident took place is the ancestral home of a member of the House of Representatives representing Gada/Goronyo constituency, Honourable Bashir Usman Gorau.
The Northern part of the country, especially the North-West has been under the grips of bandits and terrorists who unleash terror on communities in some of the states, killing residents and abducting others.
