The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday night gave reasons why the results of those it described as ‘underage candidates’ who sat for the UTME have not been released.
JAMB stated that when such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message “No Result Yet.”
The examination body said as stipulated by its regulation, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30 2026 are eligible to register for and sit the UTME.
It added that it however found out that some candidates sat for the examination despite the fact that they would not have reached 16 by September.
It added however that only candidates below 16 years who score 320 and above in the examination will have their results released.
JAMB wrote: “However, underage candidates may be considered under the exceptional category, provided they demonstrate outstanding ability by scoring 320 and above in the UTME and attaining at least 80% in subsequent screening stages.
“In line with the agreement reached and endorsed by parents of these underage candidates, only those who score 320 and above will be shortlisted and invited to proceed to the next stages of the screening.
“Successful candidates at that stage may then be considered for admission under the exceptional candidates provision.
“For now, results for underage candidates remain unreleased.”
