Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed and buried a resident of Kaduna city after payment of the sum of N12 million as ransom.
They also held the son of the man who brought the money to them in the forest.
The marauders were said to have killed Mallam Ibrahim Auwal, resident of Hayin Babban Saura Police Quarters in Kaduna and buried him in the forest.
He was abducted from his home about a month ago and a few days later, they established contact with the family, demanding N50 million as ransom.
However, following negotiations, they agreed to collect N12 million which the family raised and sent through his son.
Sadly, when the son got to the hideout of the bandits, they collected the money and also held him while they also claimed that the man had been killed and buried by them.
A source in the know of the incident told Impact Nigeria News Online on Thursday afternoon that on Wednesday, August 12, a Salatul Gha’ib (funeral prayer) was held for Mallam Auwal at Murtala Square, Kaduna, as family and community members gathered to pray for him and also for the safe return of the son.
The Northern part of the country, especially the North-West, has been under the grips of bandits and terrorists who unleash mayhem on residents of various communities, killing some and abducting others for ransom.
While the bandits and terrorists are having field days in their killing activities sometimes without any challenge, the various governments in the states and security agencies seem to be looking the other way.
