A hit-and-run driver on Monday afternoon knocked a female pedestrian down on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State, causing her to suffer fractured arm and leg in the process.
The incident occurred at EFF Bus Stop inward Marwa along the ever-busy expressway when the reckless driver fled immediately after knocking down the victim, leaving her unattended to for some time.
However, personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who were monitoring vehicular movement within the corridor later secured the victim from further danger, took her from the carriageway, administered first aid on her and immediately alerted officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).
LASAMBUS officials later arrived at the scene and moved the woman to the General Hospital, Odan, for comprehensive medical attention.
There have been serious concerns over the recurring cases of hit-and-run along the stretch of the Lekki-Epe Expressway with motorists, especially young men and women, fleeing after hitting pedestrians, sometimes leading to instant deaths.
