Some hoodlums who were said to have lured a 16-year-old girl into an isolated place, raped her and slit her throat on Sunday, November 16, have been declared wanted by the Yobe State Police Command.
The command announced the worrisome development in a statement on Sunday evening, saying the teenage girl was found in a pool of her blood near the prison fence, Gashua, one of the towns in the state.
It was gathered that on Sunday, around 9:00 a.m., a distress call was received at the Bade Divisional Headquarters from Mai Anguwa Idris Haruna of Dadin Kowa Ward that the girl, whose name was given as Sadiya Suleiman, was found at the place with her throat slit.
Upon receipt of the report, police operatives reportedly moved to the scene and took her body to the Specialist Hospital, Gashu’a, where medical examination revealed that she was raped and attacked before being killed.
The command wrote: “Investigation has since commenced while those behind the criminal act are wanted with a view to identifying, tracing, and arresting them.
“The command urges members of the community to assist the investigation by providing credible and timely information that may aid in apprehending the culprit(s).”
