It was the end of the road for four members of a syndicate of traffic robbers popularly known as ‘one-chance’ as they have been arrested by men of the Edo State Police after they pushed their female victim out of a moving vehicle on the expressway.

The names of the four syndicate members, comprising a woman and three men, were given as Joy Moses (female), Kalu Iro, Friday Chinedu, and Chiemela John and they operated along the Benin-Agbor Expressway.

It was gathered that on Monday, October 12, around 8:00 a.m., a distress call was received by the operatives attached to the Wabazigan Patrol Team that a female passenger was pushed out of a moving vehicle along the expressway.

On receiving the call, a joint patrol team comprising Wabazigan, Abudu, Igbanke divisions, the Edo State Security Corp (ESSC) and other local security operatives pursued them up to Igbanke where they abandoned the vehicle, a Volkswagen Passat wagon, and fled into the nearby forest.

The team also gave them a chase into the forest where all of them were arrested.

After their arrest, exhibits recovered from them included the vehicle used for the operation, 11 mobile phones, one power bank, N125,550 cash suspected to have been stolen from their past victims and several bags arranged in the boot of the vehicle to deceive unsuspecting victims that it was a commercial vehicle on a journey.

The victim was also said to have identified them as the syndicate that robbed her during their identification parade.

They had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation into their nefarious activities and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.

The state police command has been grappling with the activities of various criminal groups including armed robbers, traffic robbers, kidnappers, cultists, among others, terrorising residents of the state.
