Two members of a robbery gang who were arrested by men of the Oyo State Police Command have given details of how they used to rob people along the Alao-akala Expressway in Ibadan, the state capital.

The two robbers, Elijah Teejay, aged 21 years and Ottu Emmanuel, aged 33 years, were arrested by operatives of the command’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud Unit when they embarked on a targeted surveillance patrol of the expressway.

It was gathered that the patrol team apprehended them at the Elebu-Oja section of the popular expressway surrounded by residential and commercial buildings. Their arrest also followed intelligence reports about the activities of armed robbers in the area.

However, when they were searched after their arrest, two toy guns as well as some quantities of hard drugs were said to have been recovered from them.

During their interrogation, they confessed to multiple acts of robbery along the axis and other locations within and outside Oyo State, as they added that they used to dispossess people of their valuables after pointing the pistols at them in the night.

They were said to have given more useful information to the operatives and they had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and prosecution.
