An officer of the Nigerian Air Force became jittery when some armed robbers invaded his home in Abuja, carted away his vehicle, phones, money, among other items, at gunpoint.
However, following intelligence reports, the robbers were intercepted by men of the Kano State Police Command when they got to the metropolis after driving the vehicle from Abuja.
According to a statement by the state police command on the incident, on Wednesday, October 29, around 3:15 a.m., armed robbers invaded the residence of the officer (names withheld) in Karu, Abuja, robbed him of an unspecified amount of money, mobile phones and his Ford Escape car.
However, following intelligence reports which indicated the robbers were in Kano State, the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the vehicle along the Kano-Zaria Expressway.
On sighting the operatives, the robbers were said to have opened fire, and in the ensuing gun duel, two of them were demobilised and arrested.
The names of those arrested were given as Adamu Adam Abubakar and Umar Bello, while the third robber escaped with a pistol and some of the valuables taken away from the officer’s house, and he is currently being trailed.
The arrested robbers were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
