Three female teenagers who called a woman on phone and threatened to kidnap her unless she provides the sum of N10 million and human parts have told men of the Oyo State Police Command that what they did was just a prank.
The three teenagers, Fathia Nurudeen (aged 17), Taiwo Fatai (aged 17) and Munirat Saliu (aged 16), were arrested at the Ikoyi Ile area of the state hours after carrying out the threat on Friday, January 9.
According to reports, the woman reported at the Ikoyi Ile Divisional Headquarters that she received a phone call from a private number and the callers threatened to kidnap her.
They were said to have also asked her to provide human parts and the sum of N10 million, telling her that she was being targeted for abduction because she is a popular meat seller in the town.
However, following the report lodged, detectives swung into action and following intelligence-led investigative measures, the three girls were arrested.
According to the state police command, during their interrogation, they were said to have confessed to the act, claiming that the threatening call was intended to be a prank. The phone used in making the call was also recovered from them at the point of their arrest.
The girls are currently in custody giving more useful information to the police operatives while the police command will determine the appropriate legal action for them.
