President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, May 24, said he shares with Nigerians the pains they are currently going through, stating that better times are coming.
Tinubu said this after he was presented the Certificate of Return and flag of the All Progressives Congress APC as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential general election in Abuja.
Tinubu was declared the winner of the presidential primary election of the party held across the country on Saturday
He polled 10.9 million votes while his only opponent, Stanley Osifo, got 16,503 votes.
Apparently reacting to what Nigerians are going through, Tinubu, while delivering his acceptance speech, said he has also lost some sleep the way many Nigerians did.
“I shared the pain with you. I know what it takes to reform this economy that was in tatters. If you lost sleep, I lost some too. If you have lost weight, I think I have lost some too,” Tinubu said.
“The steadfast support and sacrifices of all Nigerians across the country, from all walks of life, I salute all of you for giving me the encouragement. I asked for this job, you supported me, so. I must do it,” the president added.
At the venue of the ceremony, after announcing Tinubu as the candidate of the party, Osifo extended his congratulations to the president and promised to work for his victory during the 2027 election.
