The Lagos State government on Saturday, October 25, rescued a lady who was said to have insisted she wanted an apartment inside the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, after she took an Uber ride to the place and refused to pay.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Government on New Media, Jubril Gawat, who announced the rescue on his X handle, said the Ministry of Youth Development has taken over the situation.
The lady, who is apparently of unsound mind based on the way she dressed, carrying some luggage, was said to have taken the Uber ride from Lekki area of the state and told the driver she was heading for Panti to report the sun to the police because it was the sun that made the weather to be too hot.
However, when she got to her destination and the driver told her the fare for the ride was N15,000, the lady refused to pay and when a row ensued, some police officers at the SCID were said to have gathered some money and paid the driver.
After hearing from her, the police urged her to go back home and paid for her return fare. However, after some time, the lady returned with the same luggage, saying she needed an apartment inside the SCID, Panti. All efforts to let her know her request was impossible fell on her deaf ear, as she sat at the pavement beside the station.
This made the police to call the attention of the state government and after some time, the ministry officials came to SCID and took her away and has started conducting necessary findings on her matter.
Gawat wrote about the matter: “The Lagos State Ministry Of Youth and Social Development under leadership of Honourable Ogunlende have gone to Panti to rescue the young lady and conduct necessary findings on her case.”
