The Lagos State Police Command on Monday morning said it has received information that some youths are planning to disrupt traffic movement on the ever-busy Third Mainland Bridge on Monday, October 27.
The command said in a statement that some groups of youths are planning to block the bridge at the Oworonshoki end of the more than 13-kilometre expressway.
The youths are said to be planning to carry out the act following series of demolitions carried out in the community by the Lagos State government recently.
However, following the information received, the state police command warned those planning to cause the disruption to desist from it, as it will deploy its personnel to ensure law and order as well as smooth traffic flow on the bridge.
“Our officers are fully deployed to ensure the safety of all road users and to prevent any form of obstruction or breach of the peace.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to go about their lawful activities without fear and to cooperate with security personnel carrying out their duties,” the statement reiterated.
It will be recalled that on Monday, September 8 this year, residents of the Oworonshoki community blocked a section of the Third Mainland Bridge to protest the demolition of structures in another section of the area.
The action paralysed vehicular movement along the stretch of the road for some hours before normalcy was restored.
