A landlady who was said to have poisoned the three-year-old son of her tenant has been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command.
Fortunately, the boy escaped death as he was rushed to a hospital where doctors were able to give him adequate medical attention.
It was gathered that the landlady, whose name was given as Nafisat Lateef, aged 40 years, administered the poisonous substance on the son of her tenant, Rofiyat Adeolu, aged 32 years, and the incident occurred at their residence, Omifon in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, and was reported at the Odigbo Divisional Headquarters on Wednesday by the boy’s mother.
It was gathered that on Tuesday morning, the landlady allegedly gave the boy the poisonous substance following a misunderstanding between her and the mother of the boy.
“Shortly after consuming the substance, the child began vomiting and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received urgent medical attention.
“Police detectives, during a swift and intelligence-led operation, arrested the suspect. In the course of investigation, the detectives also recovered the liquid substance,” the command said in a statement on Friday, February 6.
The landlady is currently in police custody and has made useful statements regarding the nefarious activities and she is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
