MAN UTD to face Colchester in Carabao Cup
After the sloppy defeat of Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge, Manchester United has been paired with Colchester United in the quarter finals of the 2019-20 Carabao Cup.
Colchester United, the lowest ranked side remaining in the competition, will visit the old Trafford to prove their stay in the English tournament.
The League Two side defeated Crawley Town on Tuesday having defeated Tottenham in the previous round.
Holders Manchester City will face League One side Oxford United following their victory over Southampton on Tuesday night, while current Premier League leaders Liverpool take on Aston Villa.
Jurgen Klopp’s side, Liverpool, reached the final eight after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Arsenal following a 5-5 draw at Anfield.
The quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup are scheduled to be staged on the week commencing December 16, with the semi-finals beginning from January 6 2020.
The scheduling will prove particularly problematic for Liverpool who already face a fixture pile-up in December.
Klopp’s side will compete in the Club World Cup in Qatar next month, with their opening match booked for Wednesday December 18 – one of the likely dates for the quarter-finals.
