Two persons have been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command after allegedly defrauding a man of the sum of N33 million which he gave them in order to obtain a United Kingdom visa for his son.

The man, Mr Adeyeye Aderemi, was said to have written a petition through his lawyer to the command alleging that the two persons collected the money from him under the guise of getting visa for his son but went away with the money in connivance with the third person currently at large.

The man said in the petition that in January 2025, a lady, Bunmi Olowookere, in collaboration with other accomplices, obtained the money from him under the pretext of facilitating a United Kingdom visa for his son but reportedly failed to fulfill the agreement.

Upon receipt of the petition, detectives of swung into action, leading to the arrest of Olowookere and an accomplice, Akinlogbe Olakitan, in Akure, the state capital.

However, during investigation, Olowookere told the operatives that what she collected from the man was N28 million and not N33 million, adding that she transferred the money to Akinlogbe Olakitan.

Further investigation revealed that Olakitan claimed that he subsequently transferred the said amount to Adegboyega Samuel, another accomplice who is currently at large.

The man and the woman are currently in custody and have provided useful information aiding the investigation while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Akure.

They are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
