A man who stole a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle which was given to him by the owner to wash in Lagos State has been arrested while he was on his way to Abuja to sell it.

The man, Suleiman Audu, aged 35 years, was arrested by men of the Niger State Police Command along the Abuja-Minna highway.

It was gathered that police operatives attached to Paiko Divisional Headquarters intercepted the unregistered Lexus at Farindoki village when the man was heading to Abuja with the said vehicle.

However, after a search was conducted and in the course of interrogation, the man couldn’t give a satisfactory account of himself, and he was arrested and taken to Paiko Police Station

During further investigation, it was revealed that Audu stole the vehicle from a house in Lagos where he usually assists the owner to wash the car and do other domestic chores.

He was also said to have told the operatives that he was driving the vehicle to Abuja where he planned to sell it when he was arrested.

The command wrote: “However, the owner of the vehicle was later traced and contacted, while the suspect and the recovered vehicle were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Minna, the state capital, for further investigation.”
