The Niger State Police Command is currently unravelling a child trafficking syndicate involving a pastor who bought a two-year-old girl for the sum of N2.8 million from a woman and sold her to another woman for N3.8 million.
The command announced the sad situation in a statement on Thursday, November 27, as it added that the pastor and three others female members of the syndicate are currently in police net.
The command gave the name of the Abuja-based pastor as Vincent Emmanuel and also gave the names of others in detention as Victoria Chukwumezie, Rosemary Anyanwu and Anthonia Nwabufor.
It was gathered that Victoria took the girl away from her parents house at Sabon-Wuse and sold her to Rosemary of Nyanya, and Abuja suburb, for an undisclosed amount.
Rosemary, on the other hand, was said to have sold the girl to Pastor Vincent Emmanuel for the sum of N2.8 million who in turn sold her to Anthonia for the sum of N3.8 million. Anthonia was said to have taken the girl from Abuja to Asaba, Delta State.
Following intelligence reports gathered and the confession of the members of the syndicate, the infant was found in Asaba while further investigation led to the recovery of eight children in the custody of the syndicate whose other members are currently at large.
They were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
