The Anambra State Police Command on Wednesday, December 3, said a man who threatened to destroy all police stations at a local government in the state has been arrested and indications showed that he required mental evaluation.
The man, Oluchukwu Anyaoku, was seen in a video that went viral where he was threatening violence and vowing to destroy all police stations in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
Following the threats, police operatives attached to the Obosi Division on December 2 acted immediately, traced him, arrested him and took him into custody. The operatives also recovered a firearm and a cutlass in his possession.
According to the command, preliminary investigation revealed that the man may require mental evaluation following his unstable behaviour and incoherent speeches during his interrogation and the command said appropriate procedures are being followed in this regard.
The case has also been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a comprehensive investigation and review of available information already obtained about the incident.
