Moniepoint Inc., Nigeria’s leading platform for small businesses, has announced that its microfinance bank has disbursed over ₦1tn in credit to thousands of businesses across the country, as the company marked its 2025 Year in Review and a decade of operations.
The financial services company said the credit facilities, extended to businesses ranging from provision stores and supermarkets to building materials traders, helped beneficiary businesses grow by an average of more than 36 per cent, underscoring its role in driving financial inclusion and shared prosperity.
In a statement by the financial institution, the milestone highlights Moniepoint’s position as a critical backbone of Nigeria’s entrepreneurial economy, with more than six million active businesses using its platform. It noted that it deploys alternative data such as transaction histories, business patterns and payment behaviour to assess creditworthiness, enabling it to serve businesses typically excluded by traditional credit scoring systems.
Founded in 2015 by Tosin Eniolorunda and Felix Ike, Moniepoint Inc. (formerly TeamApt Inc.) has evolved into an all-in-one financial ecosystem for small and medium-sized enterprises, offering digital payments, business accounts, credit, foreign exchange services and management tools.
In 2025, Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, the group’s banking and payments subsidiary, processed ₦412tn in transaction value and handled more than 14 billion transactions. The company said it now powers eight out of every 10 in-person payments in Nigeria, positioning it to play a significant role in the country’s ambition of becoming a trillion-dollar economy by 2030.
Commenting on the company’s growth, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Tosin Eniolorunda, said Moniepoint’s journey had been driven by a deliberate focus on solving overlooked problems in Africa’s informal economy.
“Our journey has been one of intentional evolution. What started as a passion to solve overlooked problems has evolved into a platform powering the dreams of millions,” Group CEO said.
He noted that 83 percent of employment in Africa exists in the informal economy.
The statement further disclosed that in 2025, Moniepoint reached several inflection points, including the completion of a Series C funding round that raised over $200m from investors such as Development Partners International, Google’s Africa Investment Fund, Visa, the International Finance Corporation and Verod Capital. The company also launched MonieWorld in the United Kingdom to serve the African diaspora and strengthen remittance corridors.
The year also saw Moniepoint Microfinance Bank relaunch its savings product, with data showing that most users save daily, mainly for business operations, rent and education. The launch of Moniebook and the acquisition of a national microfinance bank licence further expanded its regulated capabilities.
Meanwhile, TeamApt Ltd, the group’s switching and processing subsidiary, secured Mastercard and Visa licences to operate as a processor and acquirer, while Monnify, its web payment gateway, processed ₦25tn during the year.
Beyond banking, Moniepoint partnered with the Federal Government on the Rice Intervention Programme, reaching about 850,000 beneficiaries, and worked with the Kaduna State Government on grants for vulnerable citizens, reinforcing its role in large-scale economic empowerment initiatives.
