The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has advised that schools resuming for academic activities on Monday must ensure that safety measures in line with the national covid-19 protocol guidelines.
According to the NCDC, schools must have provision and sufficient access to running water, soap and hand washing facilities.
The centre also said that all classrooms must be well ventilated with a minimum of one meter sitting arrangement.
The health body said there should be “a triage point that is identified and well-marked at the entrance where everyone gaining access to the school is screened for high temperature, requested to wear masks and perform hand hygiene.”
The agency also stated that all staff, visitors and students above 6 years wear face masks at all times.
As at 18 January 2021, the total number of recorded cases of covid-19 infection in Nigeria is 112,004. While 89,939 have recovered from the disease, 1,449 dead has been recorded. Across the country, there are still about 20,616 active cases.
