Nigerians have expressed anger and frustrations over the blackout in some parts of the country, making life unbearable for them due to the excessive heat.

Persistent outages have hit many states, especially South-West states of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, as well as North-Central states of Kwara, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, leaving people in sweltering heat.

The government has blamed gas shortages, low hydropower level as well as maintenance as the cause, with less than 3,000 megawatts provided on November 5.

As a result of the unbearable situation, Nigerians took to the X platform, formerly Twitter, to express their anger and frustrations on the issue.

@Bigchiefnkay wrote: “Do you know what not having electricity for four full days does to you? Like if you’re not living this experience, you can’t understand.”

Ossy Vincent wrote: “Less than two months to general election. We don’t have power supply, no light at all anywhere, fuel isn’t even a reasonable option because it’s N1400 per litre. Heat wan kill Nigerians. But some people that slept inside this heat will wake up this morning and start campaigning for this same administration to have four more years.”

@Samuelaj_ wrote: “You will wake up early to go to work to avoid traffic and after having your bath, you’d start sweating as you’re dressing up because there’s no light and everywhere is hot. God will really punish APC.”

@only_fero: “Last night was one of my worst nights ever. I felt like ending it all but never will I let Tinubu outlive me, never.”

Goke wrote: “The problem with Nigerians is that we don’t hold people accountable. We have gotten so used to suffering and adapting to difficult lifestyle that the barest minimum has become luxury. How many jobs do we have in this country?

“People are losing international jobs because of electricity! Electricity!!! And the price of fuel?? How much is the salary? And you are telling me me about student grant.

“He said it himself, ‘if I don’t fulfill my promise, don’t vote for me for second term,’ but of course, this is Nigeria. Anything goes.”

Nnamdi wrote: “A country that doesn’t have electricity, how is the economy supposed to grow? I’m not even a president but I know fixing electricity alone in Nigeria will improve the economy by 30%.”

Baddy of Lagos: “This solar thing we are normalising is a very stupid concept. Other countries fixed their electricity issue but Nigeria is moving from generators to power-banks to solar. The government would keep neglecting their responsibility if we keep providing solutions to their incompetence, we need to demand for our rights.”

Blessing: “They said Tinubu is working, but there’s no light, fuel is expensive, imagine living with this heat, God will punish all APC supporters.”

Zion Odinaka: “This cannot be life. There’s been no electricity for months, and everyone is going about their business like nothing is happening.”

Oladipo wrote: “Been in Lagos for a couple of days and haven’t seen PHCN-based power since I got here. All the electricity I’ve experienced so far is either generator based or solar inverter based.”

@mrchyle: “Nigerians don’t realise how shameful it is that in 2026, we’re still begging our government for a stable electricity supply. It’s a national disgrace that instead of fixing the real problem, we’ve had to move from generators to solar as an alternative just to survive.”

Silas wrote: “My estate hasn’t had electricity since Sunday, we’ve been running on diesel-powered generators for the whole week 24/7. Yesterday the generators finally packed up and we’ve not had power for almost 24 hours. I can’t imagine that in 2026, Nigeria is still struggling with constant electricity.

“What’s crazy is that even your money can’t save you – the wealthy are also suffering this, imagine what the poor are going through.”
