The Katsina State Police Command has thwarted a kidnapping attempt and rescued four victims, including an infant, during a late-night operation on Tuesday.
According to a statement by Command spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident occurred around 12:21 a.m. when suspected bandits attacked Mazare village in Sabuwa Local Government Area. During the assault, two residents—Sa’idu Isa (37) and Sa’idu Wa’alam (61)—were shot and injured.
Responding swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer led a team of operatives to the scene. A gunfight ensued, forcing the attackers to flee and allowing police to successfully rescue all four kidnapped victims.
The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment, while an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commending the police response, Commissioner of Police CP Bello Shehu urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to enable quick intervention and enhance security across the state.
