The Nigeria Police Force seems to have kept mute or is unaware that a violent cult group, the Green Circuit Association International (GCAI), popularly known as Maphite, is planning to hold what it described as a ‘convention’ at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The said convention is scheduled to be held from Friday, December 12 to Saturday, December 13, at a location jealousy kept secret by the members.
Maphite cult group members, have, on many occasions, been involved in organised crimes, including killings, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, and other violent acts.
Founded in the 1980s at the University of Benin, it’s part of a larger network of confraternities that originated as student self-help associations but evolved into violent group.
A competent source told the Impact Nigeria News Online on Thursday morning that the cult group, said to have the backing of many highly influential citizens in the country, informed its members about the said convention through their WhatsApp group platform and it was gathered that some of them had arrived in Abuja and had lodged in hotels in the city.
It was also gathered that the last time they held such a ‘convention’ at a secret location in Edo State, it ended in violence following attacks carried out on them by rival cult groups who got wind of their gathering.
However, as they are about to start another convention, the police, especially the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, either seem to be unaware or they are looking away because the cult group is backed by influential citizens.
