The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three men in connection with a burglary at a church in Ibadan, less than 24 hours after the crime was reported.
The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Idowu Ibrahim, 26-year-old Akanade Emmanuel, and 28-year-old Moruf Sherrif, were picked up on Thursday by intelligence operatives attached to the Ogbere Divisional Police Headquarters.
According to the police, the trio allegedly broke into a church and carted away valuable musical equipment. Items recovered from them include two keyboards with stands, two slave engines, and a 24-channel mixer amplifier. The haul was found inside a Toyota Corolla car with registration number ABJ 932 DL, which the suspects reportedly used to convey the stolen property.
Police spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, said the suspects admitted to the crime during interrogation and that investigation is ongoing to determine if they belong to a wider burglary network. “The Command remains committed to ensuring that such acts of criminality are thoroughly investigated, with updates provided as the case progresses,” Osifeso stated.
The arrest underscores the police’s growing reliance on rapid intelligence gathering, which officers say has helped in tracking offenders more quickly. Residents have been urged to continue sharing timely information to aid the fight against crime in the state.
