The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) announced the incident on Monday evening, saying it occurred at Clay Bus Stop, inward Radio Junction on Awolowo Way, Ikeja, the state capital.
It was gathered that the accident occurred when the owner of the Toyota Highlander Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with registration number SMK 343 JV recklessly drove against traffic, rammed head-on into the commercial minibus (Korope) with registration number, MUS 662 YG.
LASTMA wrote: “Preliminary investigations revealed that the Highlander, driven at an excessive and unlawful speed while traversing a prohibited one-way corridor, rammed into the oncoming commercial minibus, resulting in a devastating impact that left the minibus driver unconscious and both vehicles severely damaged.”
According to the report, following a distress call received, operatives of the agency raced to the scene and carried out emergency rescue efforts.
The unconscious Korope driver was brought out of the damaged vehicle, administered first aid before he was taken to a nearby hospital for more medical attention.
