Redeemer’s University in Ede, Osun State, has emerged as the top-ranked university in Africa for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, according to the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.
The recognition was announced in a statement by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, on Monday in Osogbo.
The rankings assess universities’ contributions to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Redeemer’s University made submissions in six categories and distinguished itself as a national leader, coming first in Nigeria in four of those: SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 6, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). It also placed third nationally in SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
At the continental level, the university ranked first in Africa for SDG 6, third for SDG 3, fourth for SDG 8, sixth for SDG 13, third for SDG 16, and seventh for SDG 17.
Mr. Adeleye described the results as a reflection of the university’s enduring commitment to sustainable development, community impact, and global relevance through education, research, and innovation.
