Six men said to be terrorists collaborators and who used to generate funds for a terrorist group, ISWAP, through the sale of stolen cattle at markets in Borno State have been apprehended by men of the Nigerian Army.
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in an operation conducted on July 7, arrested the six ISWAP collaborators in Damasak area of the state.
Preliminary investigations after their arrest revealed that they were generating funds for the terrorist group through the sale of stolen cattle at designated markets in Gubio, Damasak and Ajuwango.
The Nigerian Army said in a statement on Saturday, August 1, that items recovered from them at the point of their arrest included one Volkswagen Golf car, vehicle keys, four mobile phones of different brands and the sum of ₦317,950.
The men are currently in military custody undergoing further investigation about their link with the terrorists.
In another development, on July 29, the wife of an ISWAP Chief Finance Operative and her 11-year-old son surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion through Kusuma Village in the state.
Preliminary investigation revealed that her husband, a senior ISWAP commander who reportedly served as the group’s Chief Finance Officer in Jubillaram and surrendered on July 25, had instructed her to surrender with their son after his successful escape from the enclave.
Both individuals have been screened and are currently undergoing further profiling in line with established procedures.
