Troops of the Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Nigerian Army, on Monday morning intercepted a man said to be terrorist logistics supplier with a fully-loaded trailer along the Gurbi-Zurmi corridor linking Katsina and Zamfara states.
The troops, acting on intelligence reports and a tip-off, flagged down the trailer driver and subjected the vehicle to a search.
During the search, the soldiers recovered four brand-new motorcycles hidden as sealed packages, alongside 15 jerrycans containing 25 litres of petrol each. The jerrycans of petrol were said to have been put together with vegetable and palm oil kegs.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Mallam Abbas Umoru, was arrested and is currently in military custody giving useful information, as investigations continue into the alleged logistics network and intended recipients.
In another sad development, on Sunday night, bandits attacked Tofa community in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing at least 10 persons and injuring several others.
The attackers were said to have also abducted dozens of residents, just as sources said between 38 and 40 persons may have been taken away by the marauders.
During the attack that lasted about one hour without any challenge, they also rustled a large number of livestock and looted valuables belonging to residents.
