Two women traffickers who were arrested in connection with the case of a missing 16-year-old girl have told men of the Anambra State Police Command that the teenager has been trafficked to Ghana.

The two women, Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, told operatives of the command attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters that the girl was lured by them with a lucrative offer and she had been taken to Ghana.

According to the command, the parents of the teenager, whose name was given as Oluebube Chukwuma, reported that the girl’s whereabouts had been unknown for some time in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

Following the report, the operatives swung into action and acting on intelligence reports, arrested the two women in the evening of Monday, January 26.

The command added that during their interrogation, they confessed that the girl had been trafficked by them after luring her with a lucrative job and she had been taken to Ghana.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more comprehensive investigation in order to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the trafficking as well as other persons involved.

The two ladies are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into their nefarious activities.
