Personnel of the Oyo State Fire Service have recovered the body of a 27-year-old man, identified as Alagbe Gbemisoye, from a deep well in the Ire-Akari, Adeniran area of Ogbomoso.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Reforms and Chairman, Fire Services, Moroof Akinwande.

Akinwande said his office received a distress call from a concerned resident, along with one Mr Ajayi Olayemi.

He said passers-by noticed the incident and quickly alerted the Oyo State Fire Service, which immediately deployed a rescue team to the scene.

“Fire personnel led by Oladejo were promptly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 27-year-old man, identified as Alagbe Gbemisoye, had fallen into a deep well.”

“His body was recovered and subsequently handed over to the DPO, Owode Police Station,” Akinwande said.

The circumstances leading to the victim’s fall into the well remain unknown.

Recall that in recent months, the Oyo State Fire Services Agency has handled several similar rescue operations across the state, including the recovery of individuals trapped in wells, abandoned boreholes, and other hazardous locations.

The agency had on November 4 recovered the body of a 45-year-old man who fell into a deep well in the Odo-Ogbo, Oja-Agbe area of Iseyin Local Government Area of the state.

Another such incident occurred in June when a 68‑year‑old man fell into a deep well while attempting to retrieve his mobile phone in the Imalefalafia area of Oke Ado, Ibadan.
