A 27-year-old Nigerian living in the United Kingdom, Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in north London, United Kingdom.
According to the British Metropolitan Police on its website on Sunday, April 12, he was arrested on Friday, April 10 and formally charged on Sunday. He is due to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 13.
The victim, Finbar Sullivan, aged 21, was found with knife wounds near the viewing point at Primrose Hill last Tuesday and despite emergency response efforts by the police and emergency officials, he succumbed to his injuries.
Finbar, known to friends and family as Fin, was a film student at the London Screen Academy, the Metropolitan Police said.
Chris Sullivan, the father of the victim, told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) he had lost his only son after he had simply gone to the park “because it was sunny.”
“All of his friends said he was the light, the leader. His friends’ parents loved him. This is why it’s so tragic,” he said.
Chris said his son had recently overcome some health challenges, including being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and going blind in one eye.
He said: “He was very talented – he had a very bright future and it’s gone now. I’m going to devote myself to raise money to charities Fin loved.”
