An armed robber described as notorious and dangerous who was arrested by men of the Anambra State Police Command after a gun duel has told the police details of how his gang abducted and killed some people including a member of the state House of Assembly.
The arrested robber, whose name was given as Ugochukwu Uzor, aged 26 years, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad of the command on December 8.
The command announced the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, December 10, as it added that he was apprehended in Iyowa Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area, after a fierce confrontation with the police operatives.
It was gathered that after he was overpowered, one locally-made Beretta pistol and 11 live bullets were recovered from him.
Uzor, who was said to have been known for his violent criminal activities, was found to have a large tattoo on his body with the inscriptions “No Forgiveness” and “No Mercy,” which showed the hardened nature of his criminal mindset.
The command wrote: “Upon interrogation, he confessed to being the leader of several criminal gangs operating across Anambra and neighbouring states.
“He also revealed his involvement in the abduction and subsequent murder of Honourable Azuka Justice, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, on December 24, 2024. The murder of Honourable Justice shocked the state and drew widespread condemnation.
“The arrest of Ugochukwu Uzor represents a significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime and will assist in further investigations to dismantle criminal syndicates operating within the state.
He is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into his violent activities.
