Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has announced that the late former President Muhammadu Buhari will be buried in his hometown, Daura, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Speaking during a press briefing in Katsina, Governor Radda confirmed that Buhari’s remains would arrive in Katsina by 12 noon tomorrow and be interred at 2:00 p.m. the same day in accordance with Islamic rites. He said the arrangements followed consultations with the late President’s family and associates in London, where Buhari passed away on Sunday in a hospital at the age of 82.
Governor Radda extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, Nigerians at large, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the passing of his predecessor.
“We pray Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus,” Radda said. “May Allah give us the strength to bear this great loss.”
He added that the Katsina State Government is working closely with federal authorities and the deceased’s family to ensure a dignified farewell for the former leader, who served as Nigeria’s military ruler from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023.
