The Federal High Court in Lagos has again granted bail to social media critic Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu, known as Ijele Speaks II, in Charge No: FHC/L/321/2024.
Justice Daniel Osiagor reaffirmed the earlier bail terms and directed Ofoegbu’s legal team to apply for his immediate release from Ikoyi Correctional Centre.
Ofoegbu has been in custody since March 2024 despite meeting all bail conditions. The judge noted there is no valid remand order keeping him in prison and criticized federal prosecutors for failing to appear in court.
His lawyer, Yakubu Galadima, has petitioned the Nigerian Correctional Service, calling the detention a violation of constitutional rights. A separate charge in Awka is cited as the reason for the delay, though no court order supports it.
In light of the above, the legal team is demanding the immediate and unconditional release of the defendant from custody.
