Musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced his decision to join the Accord Party, two weeks after his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, officially defected to the party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Davido disclosed on his verified X handle on Tuesday, December 23, stating that he plans to be in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Wednesday to collect his membership card.

Recall that Governor Adeleke formally announced his defection to the Accord Party on Tuesday, December 9, days after he announced his resignation from the PDP.
In a statement posted on his X handle, the governor noted that his defection was for the good of the people of the state and expressed optimism of winning the governorship election, which would be held in August 2026 to consolidate “ongoing delivery of good governance and democratic dividends.”
He also cited the leadership crisis rocking the PDP at the national level as the reason for dumping the party for the Accord Party.
Adeleke formally announced his resignation from the PDP on December 1, confirming that he had submitted his resignation letter on November 4, 2025, to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area.
Davido had earlier reacted to his uncle’s resignation from the PDP by reposting the announcement on social media with the caption, “Jeje…”
