A man has been arrested by men of the Anambra State Police Command eight months after killing his cousin and burying his remains in a shallow grave within his compound.
Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) were said to have uncovered the eight-month-old case with the arrest of 35-year-old man, Chukwudalu Ezeani, fingered in the murder of his cousin, Chinedu Ezeani, aged 52 years.
It was gathered that on August 1, 2025 at about 8:00 p.m., the man allegedly killed the cousin at his residence in Afube Village, Amichi, and buried the body in a shallow grave within his compound, concealing the crime for about eight months.
The case, which was initially reported as a missing person incident at Amichi Police Station, was later revisited by detectives following credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of the man.
Upon interrogation, the man confessed to the crime and led operatives to the burial site within his compound, where the corpse was exhumed by the police operatives.
The remains had been deposited for necessary forensic examination, while the man, who had given more useful information, will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
