A man who stole a luggage belonging to a police officer, removed a camouflage from it, wore it and posed as a policeman has been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command.
The man, Onipede Tajudeen Ojo, aged 22 years, was arrested following his apprehension by passerby who observed his behaviour that was different from that of real police officers.
During investigation, he was discovered to have stolen a police officer’s bag containing a camouflage uniform, warrant card, mobile phone, ATM card and other personal belongings.
He thereafter wore the stolen police camouflage uniform and posed as one of the police officers in the state.
“However, vigilant passersby observed that his conduct and mannerisms did not correspond with those expected of a genuine police officer. Their suspicion prompted them to accost and question him, during which he was discovered to be an impostor,” the command said in a statement on Monday, June 22.
After discovering this, the passersby subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
He was said to have given more useful information to the operatives in custody and he will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation into his nefarious activities.
