Many Nigerians on Tuesday morning took to the social media to rally round and empathise with Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, whose daughter said was battling with Stage 4 Cancer.
According to cancercenter.com, Stage 4 Cancer means it has spread from its original location to distant parts of the body. It’s sometimes referred to as metastatic cancer. This stage may be diagnosed years after the initial cancer diagnosis and/or after the primary cancer has been treated or removed.
“Many stage 4 cancers have subcategories, such as stage 4A or stage 4B, which are often determined by the degree to which the cancer has spread throughout the body. Similarly, stage 4 cancers that are adenocarcinomas are often referred to as metastatic adenocarcinomas,” it said.
Late on Monday night, the actor’s daughter appealed for urgent help, revealing that the veteran actor battles stage 4 cancer.
In an emotional video shared online, she disclosed that her father is currently in pain and has been unable to continue chemotherapy while also stating that the hospital treating him told the family that he could no longer receive chemotherapy.
“Hello everyone. I’m here for my daddy. He has cancer, and it’s stage 4.
“Hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again, like they can’t give him chemo again,” she said in the video.
She appealed to individuals who may know of hospitals, doctors or other legitimate cancer treatment options that could help the actor to reach out to the family.
However, a few hours after posting the video, many Nigerians on social media expressed empathy over the development, promising to do their best to help him get the required treatment.
Popular actor, Femi Adebayo, wrote on his X handle: “Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer.
“As shared by his family, they are not looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction.”
Lanre Adeola wrote: “May the Lord help and come through. Miracles still happen and there is power in the name and blood of Jesus.
“I think the UK hospitals are better than the Indian hospitals. Hopefully he’s still able to travel. Your family are in my prayers.”
Salami Bashorun: “I don’t know anyone or anywhere but what I know is that God ALMIGHTY shall HEAL HIM in Jesus Mighty name. Ogogo has faced health challenges multiple times and miraculously God ALMIGHTY healed him. This new challenges will not go unchallenged by the GRACE and POWER of JEHOVAH GOD ALMIGHTY.”
Dr Ridwan Ahmed: “Femi Adebayo, do you know what type of cancer it is? Any biopsy/histological confirmation and what treatments he has had so far before now? Happy to chat further in the DM, as necessary, to offer specialist insight.”
