Notorious IPOB Commander, Alhaji, shot dead while attempting to disarm soldier during his arrest

A notorious Commander of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) simply known as Alhaji, has been shot dead by troops when he attempted to disarm a soldier during his arrest at his hideout.

The Nigerian Army announced the development on its X handle on Sunday, October 12, saying the troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA tracked and killed him at his hideout in Ezza-Eyimaggu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

It was gathered that the IPOB Commander was traced to his hideout following intelligence reports gathered by the soldiers and on getting to the hideout, he was arrested.

However, when the arrest was benign effected, he was said to have attempted to disarm one of the soldiers and during a scuffle that ensued, he was shot dead by the troops.

The development was one of the series of raids carried out by the Nigerian Army at various parts of the country, especially in the South-East and North-East part of the country.

In a raid carried out in Imo State, troops of 34 Artillery Brigade on patrol in Mbaotoli Local Government Area of the state discovered and destroyed an IPOB/ESN shrine used for criminal indoctrination.

Also, in the North-East, troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gajiram, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged ISWAP/JAS terrorists along Gajiram–Bolori–Mile 40–Gajiganna Road in Borno State.

“Four terrorists were killed, while two civilians held hostage were rescued. Over ₦4.3 million and two new mobile phones earlier seized by the terrorists were recovered.

“Likewise, troops of 109 Special Forces Battalion in Magumeri neutralized five terrorists and recovered one AK-47 rifle, five magazines, 31 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a dagger.”
