A passenger was rushed to the hospital while others escaped death by the whiskers when a container from a trailer fell off and landed on a minibus popularly known as Korope in Lagos State.
The accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Monday on the service lane at Second Rainbow inward Oshodi along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, when the driver of the trailer carrying the container lost control of the vehicle apparently due to brake failure.
As a result of the loss of control, the container fell off from the trailer and landed on the minibus that was picking passengers beside a row of shops in the area.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in a statement on the accident, a passenger who got injured in the minibus was rushed to a nearby hospital while some others escaped death because they hurriedly jumped out before the container landed on the Korope.
In the video posted by LASTMA, the container destroyed the right side of the minibus after it landed on it while the vehicle itself damaged some shops there.
Police and other emergency officials have arrived the scene to assess the situation at the time of writing this report.
Many residents of Lagos have complained bitterly about the numerous incidences involving trailer carrying containers causing havocs on various highways in the state.
There have been many cases of trailer drivers losing control, causing containers that were not properly latched to fall off the trailers and land on vehicles.
Many residents of the state have lost their lives as a result of containers falling from trailers and landing on vehicles.
