A boy has given chilling details of how he escaped from the den of kidnappers after his father was killed by them while they were travelling and his mother died shortly after abduction.
The boy, whose name was given as Hassan Haruna, from Bena in Kebbi State, said the kidnapping incident took place along Shagari Road in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
According to him, he was in the vehicle along with his father and mother as well as other passengers when they were attacked by the abductors who killed his father as well as the driver of the vehicle they were inside.
He added that after carrying out the killing, they marched him, his mother and other passengers into the forest.
However, while they were in captivity, his mother died due to stress. However, after some days, he and some of the captives were able to escape from the den of the kidnappers.
According to reports, he was found by security operatives while coming out through the Kucheri forest area in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
He was taken to a hospital where he is currently receiving treatment while efforts are being made by security operatives to trace his relatives and reunite him with his family.
The Northern part of the country, especially the North-West, has been under the grips of bandits, kidnappers and terrorists who unleash mayhem on residents of various communities in the states, killing people and abducting others for ransom.
While the marauders are having field days of terror, the governments in the states as well as security agencies seem to be helpless.
